Hello my name is Simon.
I am a freelance architectural photographer. Over the past few years, I have travelled to over 40 countries in pursuit of a passion for capturing abandoned places and architectural masterpieces.. During a 6 month long journey in 2018 i managed to visit over 100 abandoned places in Europe, Asia and the U.S.
As a self taught photographer, my journey began with Petite Ceinture in Paris. It gave me my first taste of what i find so captivating about such long forgotten and decaying places - the atmosphere, the silence, the solitude and the escape into another world; another world that very few get to experience. I have had the pleasure of travelling to some incredible countries such as China, Jordan, Egypt, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Italy, Myanmar and Romania. I have photographed abandoned churches, asylums, steel mills, power plants, car graveyards, monasteries, and palaces.
Through this I have also grown a keen interest in photographing modern architecture; i find the geometric forms of Santiago Calatrava and Zaha Hadid captivating and incredibly photogenic. This is something I will be exploring further.
